I'm with you about the weaknesses of
LULLABY TOWN. I think it's his weakest book. Guess you were
just unlucky with your first pick. The Cole series is one in
which you can really see the writer develop. Most of the
books are quite Parkeresque (I hate -esque words) with L.A.
REQUIEM being Crais's breakthrough. I'd say he deserves a
second chance; however, if Elvis wears thin on you now, you
may not have the patience to read up to L.A. REQUIEM.
