I couldn't
agree more. I was ready to give up on Connelly because of the
wooden feel. In fact, I tossed The Poet after 100 pages or
so. But I found Trunk Music to be a different kind of
Connelly. People had personalities. Conversations happened.
There was more of that institutional ambiance that Connelly
captures so well. Harry Bosch was still tough and
resourceful. Some people hated Trunk Music and I can't
understand why - unless they gotta have serial murders in
their fiction.
