The mentioned "Mr. Lucky" novel was probably a tie-in to the
TV series based on the Cary Grant film. The 1959 series was a
Blake Edwards production, following the success of his Peter
Gunn. Now that I think of it, Edwards gave his Gunn actor,
Craig Stevens, a makeover to resemble Grant. Curious that two
noir TV series should have been influenced by Grant who never
struck me as being very hardboiled. But Raymond Chandler went
on record as saying he was the guy who should have played
Marlowe, so what do I know. Dick Lochte
