Jerome Charyn lives in France most of the time now. So I
wonder why you didn't find French references, as most of his
novels were translated there.
He participated also to some original comic scripts in
France, and more recently was host to a documentary done by
the Belgian TV celebrating the 100th anniversary of the
foundation of Comics (-1996- wherein he explores Brussels'
street murals with huge fresques reproducing the best known
Belgo-French characters, an hotel totally decorated with
comics themes... etc) His off-beat (and very good)Isaak
Sidel's series(first novel:1976) was published by Serie Noire
and several other publishing houses there.
I think he is a little bit forgotten in his own country
now.
But he is definitely worth the search...
