I forget whether the original question bore on Mexicano
characters or situations. Anyway, I just remembered that the
two Hazzard books by R.D. Brown and the first Weatherby book
by J.M.T. Miller all deal with border situations. I also seem
to recall a (late '80s?) paperback original with a sunset
cover which had a widowed sheriff going south to find the
people responsible for his wife's death. I'll have to go
through my boxes.
