W.R. Burnett did quite a bit of western stuff along with the
crime, historical, and straight fiction. *Saint Johnson*,
perhaps the first fictional treatment of the Earp-Clanton
feud in Tombstone, AZ, is as hardboiled as any of his crime
novels.
