Couldn't the "morally bereft" argument be
equally well applied to Willeford, Cain and Thompson?
Personally, I liked _American Tabloid_ a lot, but I notice
that a lot of people who enjoyed Ellroy's LA books (such as
Martha) didn't care for it. You may like the other books
better although they, in their own way, are just as
"revisionist".
