I've followed with interest the various comments on French
films, espec. those on Godard. Seems to me one of his darkest
and best films--perhaps
"in category" enough for HB/noir fans--is one that, as far as
I know, is NOT based on a category novel. "Weekend" begins
with fine scenes of French road rage (before it was called
that), wrecks that send the focal characters off on a violent
cross-country jaunt to the point where they meet hippie
guerrillas who, um, live off passing tourists. If you like
the twist at the end of the Thompson's The Getaway, ...
