If you red 'pop 1280' and liked it, do not go to see this
movie.
Even if close to the plot, something is missing when compared
to the original novel ( a dimension...) If you do not know
the novel, you may enjoy the film for what is is.
I personally consider this novel as Thompson's masterpiece,
and its bitter irony, allied to pure cynicism, should not be
confused with comedy. It's certainly the greatest Noir novel
of the sixties and even of the 20 years that follows. A
milestone of the American HB/Noir novel history.
The French film, even if good, does not flight that
high!
