THE WRONG VENUS isn't hardboiled, but it's definitely worth
reading. Isn't that the one with the old pulp writer who's
constantly coming up with outrageous plots? Also very funny
are THE DIAMOND BIKINI and UNCLE SAGAMORE AND HIS GIRLS,
which someone has already mentioned. Great examples of the
use of the naive narrator in the Huck Finn vein. Williams was
an enormously talented guy.
His first two novels, HILL GIRL and BIG CITY GIRL are both
worth looking at as well.
