It's almost amusing, with the school administrations acting
like the police organizations that Philip Marlowe, Shell
Scott, etc had to deal with. That is to say, lacking personal
power, they act out of the power of their position. And in
their positions, they have as much power over the kids as
Chandler's and Prather's cops had over Marlowe and Scott.
Imagine enacting a city ordinance banning flannel shirts
because the Unabomber wore flannel! No, adults wouldn't put
up with it. The kids roll their eyes and deal with it.
