Kent Harrington and Kent Anderson are both excellent
ultrahardboiled writers who have yet to be recognized by the
reading public. They could be classified as "up and
coming".
A few months ago, someone here praised Max Martinez to the
skies, but I haven't yet read his stuff.
There's also Boston Teran, whose work was officially read and
discussed in rara-avis. His novel is well worth
reading.

"It is our belief that no writer can improve his work until
he discards the dulcet notion that the reader is
feeble-minded, for writing is an act of faith, not a trick of
grammar."
