RARA-AVIS: Leigh Brackett

Tue, 6 Apr 1999 20:09:24 -0400 As I learned from this group, Leigh Brackett was the first woman to write a
hard-boiled detective novel in the style popularized by Chandler and his
pulp contemporaries.

FYI, I just received the McMillan Trade Edition of No Good from a Corpse
today, a compilation with the novel in addition to short stories and
novellas.

The introduction is by Ray Bradbury (who I understand was one of her
students), with an afterward by Michael Connelly.
