I believe the film has been available for some time. It's
listed in my
1998 Facets catalog.
Definitely worth seeing or purchasing. Many of the better
video rental
shops will have a copy.
I note that three other Goodis titles were filmed by French
directors or
emigre filmmakers in France--Moon in the Gutter (1983), Le
Casse (fr. The
Burglar), and La Course du Lievre a travers les Champs (fr.
Friday the
Thirteenth).
Of the three, I've seen Moon in the Gutter, and don't
recomend it, although
it has some striking scenes and Ms. Kinski is always worth
looking at. But
I've never seen or heard-tell of the other two titles.
Anyone seen 'em?
