RARA-AVIS: One More Bite of Liver

I wasn't going to say anything about JEREMIAH JOHNSON, my
memory being as
bad as it is, but I can't resist. As I vaguely recall, there
was quite a
controversy about a review of the movie published by Pauline
Kael in THE NEW
YORKER. Kael seemed to think that just before Redford/Johnson
rode away at
the end of the movie, he shot the finger to the Indians.
Redford was
outraged (he says he was either saluting or waving, I forget
which).
