Ellroy's take on the O.J. Simpson trial (written before the
trial's
conclusion) is a marvelously scathing psychological and
socialogical
dissection of the major players in the murder case. And his
exploration of
an unsolved crime has a staccato Dragnet
"just-the-facts-ma'am" style that
wraps up with a mythopoeic pop-psychology profile of the
people involved
and the allure of Hollywood decadence.
I found it fun stuff to read during a recent bout of travel
and delayed
flights. -- Duane
