I'm pretty new to the list; been lurking for a while
now, reading the archives and such. Seems like
I'm going to enjoy it here, though I gather I'll end up
mostly lurking. Unless I hear anything about Charles
Willeford, that is. I love his stuff with a passion
(and
have pretty recently made a small webpage about
him at http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jtlin/cw/)
and I
guess the reason for that has something to do with
his understanding of human nature combined with
pace/rhythm - sort of deceptively deep books.
Besides him, I've read and enjoyed some Thompson,
Ellroy, Crumley, Woodrell, Lansdale etc. Not all that
much, really. I'm currently reading Jack O'Connell's
WIRELESS, which isn't quite as good IMO than the
exceptional BOX NINE, but he has the touch too.
Sam Fuller.
Guess that's about it for now.
.Juha.
