Rabe's "Kill the Boss Goodbye" is an odd portrait of a
gangster who refuses
to face reality during his efforts to climb back on top of
his gangland
fiefdom. Shorter but more psychologically involved than many
contemporary
crime novels I've seen lately. It was a weird feeling to find
myself
rooting for one of the bad guys during the course of the
novel.
Black Lizard reprinted this. I think it's out of print
now.
