Robert Heinlein's later novels are also written in the

diatribe/preachy grouch genre. You may wish to consider them,
as well. ;)
Seriously, start with the first one and do what the
best-seller-reading
ladies I meet at the used bookstores tell me they do: skip
paragraphs. I
love his earlier stuff which, presumably, had the benefit of an
editor. Try
A Bullet for Cinderella, for instance.
