Well, they're both still kicking. I agree with Reeves. Yeah,
by all means,
let's have Angie could go over and slap Ronnie around a bit
this time. Now,
that's entertainment! And pretty hardboiled, too.
In fact, I always thought Angie in real life was tougher than
most of the
women she plays. Forget Miss Marple or Jessica Fletcher, I'd
love to see
Angie as a detective of "a certain age," knocking down doors
and taking
down names. She deserves a good role...alas, there's just
doesn't seem to
be much demand for "tough broads," anymore.
Kathleen Turner and Sharon Stone could both probably do great
"tough
broads", but they've both been wasted in so-so fluffy films
lately.
Someone mentioned Stanwyck doesn't do much for them. Me
neither. And
someone else wasn't happy with Astor as Brigid in Falcon.
Same here. Is it
just tastes have changed, I wonder, or were these women
always sorta viewed
as cold, hard flinty types?
Of course, it doesn't matter if they turn me on; the thing
that matters if
the audience believes they'd turn on Neff or Spade.
And Mario:
>I would attribute that honor to the great Norbert
Davis - however, as
>old-timers know, I am unlikely to rank anybody higher
than Davis.
Max Latin! Max Latin! Max Latin!
Now that would be fun, if we could all get hold of one of
those
stories...what about that web site that prints old pulp
stories in pdf?
Hmmm, yeah, here it is...Pulp Fiction Monthly...maybe they
have some Davis
stories...the URL is
http://www.vintagelibrary.com/pulp/monthly/monthly.htm
