RARA-AVIS: Lingo query

Wed, 12 Aug 1998 08:36:56 -0400 Hi folks:
I was reading a story by Donald Wandrei yesterday, "Bride of the Rats,"
which originally ran in a Street&Smith magazine (CLUES, I think) in 1935.
The story featured Wandrei's Holmes-like character Professor I. V. Frost.

I have a question about something Frost's assistant, June, says. She hasn't
eaten all day because of the crazy adventure. She says "I'm so hungry I
could eat turkey and caviar."

Am I missing something contextually here? Just what does that mean? Or does
it have any meaning beyond what it says? I figure you folks and your
expertise on roscoes and beezers would have the answer. -- Duane
