I second the positive opinion of Shooting Elvis by Robert
Everz. And it
is timely for this list as it is partially set in the art
world, albeit
a more contemporary one than that of Burnt Orange Heresy,
although it
too obviously reveres Duchamp. I also got a kick out of Everz
never
explaining the significance of the "dingus" everyone is after;
most of
the characters do not even know why it is valuable, just that
it is and
therefore they want it.
His follow-up, Gypsy Hearts is not nearly so good, a
serviceable
variation on the femme fatale theme, but then almost anything
would have
been a bit of disappointment after the stellar debut.
