Which is funny in a wat because there is a kind of
"sentimentality"
in the books which is borne out by the fact that they are
very
persoanl books for Charyn ->>
And Charyn's books are filled with sentimental characters.
Manfred Coen,
certainly, is a sentimental hard-boiled guy, and Isaac Sidel
wavers wildly
between maudlin sentiment (veering into self pity) and
cold-blooded puppet
mastery.
Even the "bad guys" are sentimental fools. They direct an icy
hate at their
adversarys, but they go weak in the knees about certain
personal whims. --
