<<However, I am reluctant to read Robert
Skinner's
New Orleans books that are set back in the 30s, mainly
because I haven't
liked the covers, the way they are presented to me.
>>
It's not for me to give advice - but I think you are making a
mistake in
judging these books by looking at their covers. Skinner's
books are
built for comfort, not for speed. He is a fine novelist with
a
sure-footed, deliberate way of developing his themes and
characters.
He's not flashy, but his stuff is nice and solid. I cannot
imagine
anyone not liking Skinner. But again, who am I to give
advice?
