: the first script I was hired to do in 1993 was to feature
Stacy as
: an older Hammer, trying to adjust to life in retirement.
but in
: their infinite wisdom, CBS decided to create an all new,
young Mike
: Hammer and stick him in the location of the moment-
Miami.
This is interesting, hearing from Mike Hammer TV writers.
What did
the network think of the Hammer character and universe? As
just a
tough guy in a hat, or had some of the producers read the
stories and
wanted to do something close, but set in modern times? Do
writers for
this kind of show often know a fair bit about the books, or
do they
just work off the previous TV shows?
I never saw "Come Die With Me," the one you did, and I don't
think the
current series is showing in Canada. I'd certainly check it
out if it
was.
I thought Keach made a good Hammer, although the amount of
cleavage
they worked into the old show was crazy.
