RARA-AVIS: jazz & hard-boiled

may as well kick in my 2 cents worth on the subject since
everyone else is.
I'm as big a fan of jazz as the next guy and find that it's
having something
of a resurgence, rather than being merely dated. noir in film
is also being
heavily revisited and reinvented, which it must be in order to
remain viable.
filmmaker Walter Hill, as good an action director as ever
lived, and knows
his way around a good western as well as a good crime story,
infuses a
decidedly classic noirish movie like JOHNNY HANDSOME with a Ry
Cooder score.
Ry Cooder also plays under the more recent LAST MAN STANDING.
point being, jazz doesn't hold sole province over hard boiled
dramatizations.
any moody, atmospheric music will do.
