RARA-AVIS: Toronto

When I first discovered the James Lee Burke novels I took an
immediate
shine to them. There was something honest, gritty and sweatty
(sp?)
about them.
The fact that I read them when it was humid, 30 degrees C. and
in the
hight of mosquito season at the family cottage didn't hurt.
Once the
pattern gets set for the series the bloom comes off the rose.
I have
not read his latest but I will give it a go when I get the
opportunity.
I have given some further thought to the idea of Toronto being
such an
unlikely place for a hard-boiled locale and I'm changing my
mind.
The Paul Bernardo kidnapping and murders took place not far
from here
and "Body found at the Leslie Street Spit" could be a headline
in one
of our three dailies!
Hey, any writers want to take on Toronto as a locale?
