Having read the four Paul Pine novels I could obtain (very recently) I would say these definitely draw heavily from Chandler. They are hard-boiled Marlowe type situations, but without the magic Chandler language. Also, Pine gets hit on the head way too often (even more than Marlowe) for my taste.
