Mr. Denton has suggested that new subscribers introduce themselves, so
here I am.  My name is Josh, and I am a graduate student in (of?) English.
My special interests include American political and social life of the
fifties as reflected in literature.  The noir authors whom I'd most like
to study are Jim Thompson, Fredric Brown, and Patricia Highsmith; the
reviewer/editor who most interests me is Anthony Boucher.  My favorite
hardboiled comic in the past has been _Hellblazer_, although I haven't
followed it in recent years.  I welcome recommendations of critical works
and of noir/hardboiled authors active before 1963.
